BSI Business Information signs with Ingenta for delivery of publications online

Ingenta plc., the market leader in creating and operating specialist publication websites for academic and professional publishers, has been chosen to deliver the British Standards Online Project (BSOL) for BSI Business Information, the publishing division of the BSI Group, the leading provider of  business services to organisations worldwide.

The project,  involves the provision of a new online channel to market for thousands of British Standards publications. BSI will be using Ingenta’s technology to deliver a more flexible information commerce proposition, building new revenues through the creation of new revenue channels. Ingenta’s new information commerce platform helps BSI roll out the ability to flexibly and creatively package and deliver valuable content to a number of new key partners.

Expertise in creating websites for publications, and specifically the access and entitlement technology required to create new business models online, led to Ingenta’s appointment. Speaking of the project, Rachel Cave, Head of New Product Development at BSI Business Information said, “BSOL is a key delivery channel for us providing more than 38,000 documents to customers in a wide range of organisations in the UK and internationally. Ingenta’s experience in supplying professional and academic content, often with complex access requirements, was a major factor in our choice of supplier.”

Patrick Cooke, New Business Director Europe at Ingenta said, “This contract with BSI demonstrates that Ingenta’s information commerce technology can be used to benefit all kinds of published content, from scientific journals to British standards. Powering a website, these tools can create new products and generate incremental revenues online.”
