Ingenta launches All My Eye blog
Ingenta, the technology provider which connects the publishing and information industries, recently announced the launch of a new blog, All My Eye. Publicly available at http://allmyeye.blogspot.com, the blog provides a new channel for Ingenta to communicate product and technical news to its customers across the information industry. Blog postings will incorporate, amongst other things: commentary on current technical practices and hot topics; reviews and recommendations of industry initiatives, technologies and resources; updates on Ingenta developments; and reports of events at which Ingenta staff have spoken, exhibited or attended.
Leigh Dodds, Engineering Manager for IngentaConnect, set up the blog in order to provide team members with a relatively informal medium for sharing news and developments: "Ingenta has always been a technology innovator, embracing new technologies often well before they see wider adoption. Our customers are already benefiting from this in our products, but I felt it was time to share more of what's happening behind the scenes. A blog will provide the engineers with a forum to talk about our technology, providing customers with an insight into our research and processes. We've already garnered a lot of interest from other technology researchers, especially those working in the library, publishing and scientific fields."
Charlie Rapple, IngentaConnect Senior Product Manager, who will co-administrate All My Eye, adds: "Obviously weblogs have been around for some time now, but corporate blogging is surprisingly uncommon on the technical side of the publishing and information community. As a leading provider to those industries, it seemed logical for us to blaze something of a trail here and to open up some of our thinking and activities for the community to make use of."
All My Eye already contains a variety of postings ranging from the current state of full-text publishing, through use of RSS by librarians and researchers, via the annual conference of the Association of Subscription Agents, to building an RDF repository.
