Carol Rice appointed to lead Ingenta’s Information Commerce Division

Ingenta, the technology provider which connects the publishing and information industries, recently named Carol Rice as the newly-appointed Vice President of Product Development in the company's Information Commerce Division. Carol will operate from Ingenta's office in Providence, RI, and will lead the strategic and technological development of standalone Information Commerce software and websites for prestigious customers including OECD, Oxford University Press, Institute of Physics and World Bank.

Carol has over 20 years' experience in software development, application architecture, infrastructure architecture and program management, and has held senior management roles in a range of consulting, software and financial services companies. At Progress Software, Carol was responsible for defining standards for technical designs; prior to that, at Monitor Group, Carol's responsibilities as CIO included leading the re-architecture and implementation of core technology to build collaboration and knowledge management capabilities. At Ingenta, Carol intends to "keep bridging that gap which can develop between technical and business interests. When an organization is creating highly functional websites of the scale and complexity that is Ingenta's forte, it is operationally critical to methodize stakeholder requirements in order to maximize efficiency and ensure smooth, timely delivery."

Simon Dessain, Ingenta CEO, adds: "People of Carol’s cross-discipline caliber are scarce, and we are pleased to be able to harness her expertise. Carol's unique mix of skills will provide valuable input to our senior management group, and we look forward to further successes in our Information Commerce Division under her guidance."

Ingenta's Information Commerce Division builds and powers major web platforms and services for customers with sophisticated content and business needs. Its flexible infrastructure and tools enable publishers to repackage e-content to exploit new revenue channels. In its 10 year history, the division has delivered over 70 websites, enabling a range of key customers to draw on Ingenta's technology and information architecture expertise to provide high-specification yet intuitive user interfaces for their content and services.
