Ingenta launches upgrade to flagship web service
IngentaConnect Premium package offers cost-effective tool suite for librarians
Ingenta plc, the technology and services provider for the publishing and information industries, recently announced the launch of a new suite of services designed to save librarians time, money and administrative resource in managing their online collections. The cost-effective IngentaConnect Premium package features a selection of enhancements to the free services already enjoyed by Ingenta’s 17,000 registered library customers.
IngentaConnect Premium combines elements of proven Ingenta services, such as email alerting and custom-built library gateways, with new features including one-click subscription activation management, searching by subscribed content only, customized library branding and advanced statistics. The upgrade package is supported by the reliable, flexible infrastructure and redeveloped access and authentication system recently introduced to underpin the new IngentaConnect interface.
Speaking of the new package, Douglas Wright, VP of Ingenta’s Library Division, said: “Our library support staff and product management teams have worked closely with Ingenta’s engineering groups to create a set of enhanced services which add genuine value on top of freely-available IngentaConnect features. We wanted to create a package which would make a tangible difference to both librarians and their users, and early uptake of IngentaConnect Premium suggests we have achieved this objective.”
The IngentaConnect platform, the most comprehensive collection of academic and professional publications online, was launched in Fall 2004 and receives on average 8,000,000 users a month. A broad range of content types, including journals, books, reports, statistics and more, is made available to users under subscription and through a variety of different payment models such as libr ary deposit accounts, individual subscription sales and article pay-per-view access. The site offers new tools designed to integrate the IngentaConnect platform with popular browsers and search engines such as Firefox and Google. Users can also take advantage of features such as flagged subscriptions, marked lists, reference linking and alerting services.
