Institute of Physics is first customer for Ingenta's unique Information Commerce software
Ingenta plc., the technology and services provider for the publishing and information industries, today announced a major contract with Institute of Physics Publishing (IOP) to develop Information Commerce System (ICS) licensed software. This new technology from Ingenta is the first commercially available software to integrate the management of subscriptions to online and offline products sold via the Internet.
Set to replace the publisher’s current systems for handling subscriptions to electronic and print journals, the new system develops three core initiatives: Firstly, IOP has the flexibility to create multiple business and authentication models at the touch of a button via an administrative interface. Secondly, IOP are now able to rapidly deploy newly developed on and offline products from existing content. And finally, a core function of the robust technology will be the resolution of the issues faced in seamless integration of subscription sales with hardcopy fulfilment.
Speaking of the project, Tony O’Rourke, Assistant Director for Journals Sales and Marketing at IOP said, “This new system will enable us to deliver complex online and print products to meet varied customer needs in a cost effective and agile way. We selected Ingenta because they were able to offer a solution that deals with both print and online subscriptions and access control in a single unified system.”
Patrick Cooke, New Business Director Europe at Ingenta said, “We are delighted to be working with IOP who have earned a strong reputation for successful innovation in digital publishing on this the first implementation of our new ICS licensed software.
