Ingenta leads with third quarter signings

Ten new publishers join; key current client renews partnership

Ingenta, the technology provider which connects the publishing and information industries, has announced that a further ten publishers will provide their online content via IngentaConnect, the home of scholarly research. These third quarter signings build on Ingenta’s successful start to 2006, which saw eleven new publisher partners announced earlier this year. In addition, key client Brill Academic Publishers has demonstrated continued confidence in the company and its e-publishing service by renewing its contract with Ingenta for a further 3 years. IngentaConnect Vice President Douglas Wright says, “Having worked with Brill for many years, I’m thrilled that they have chosen to sign another long-term contract with us – particularly since they did fully investigate our competitors’ offerings before deciding to do so. I think this demonstrates real confidence in our ongoing growth, stability and competitive advantage.”

Of the new signings, Inderscience Publishers has partnered with Ingenta to increase visibility and usage of its 134 academic, scientific and professional publications. “Inderscience is rapidly expanding its journals in the management/business, engineering/science, environmental/energy and ICT/computing fields,” says Inderscience’s Editor in Chief Dr Mohammed Dorgham. “We wanted to increase the reach of our journals, to maximise their value to the community.  Capitalising on Ingenta’s significant penetration in the global library market is a cost-effective way for us to achieve this.”

Also in the UK, Cambridge Medical Publications and Oxford Economic Forecasting have contracted Ingenta as their online hosting partner, whilst European signings include the Norwegian University of Technology and Science and Poland’s Mammal Research Institute. In North America, the Civic Research Institute and the University of Iowa have each chosen to place their journals online with IngentaConnect, and The Oxford International Review and Philosophia Africana will also be added to the site by their respective publishers. In addition, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has opted for the IngentabyDesign service which will provide a fully-functional branded web presence along with hosting of their journals.

IngentaConnect provides over 25,000 libraries with access to over 10,000 electronic journal, book and monograph titles and over 20,000 fax- and Ariel-delivered publications. The site enables users to view full text via subscription and through a variety of different payment models such as library payment accounts, individual subscription sales and article pay-per-view access.
