Ingenta in top 5 for R&D investment in UK
Ingenta’s R&D spend tops £2.56m
Ingenta plc, the global market leader in creating and delivering Internet versions of professional and academic research publications, has been ranked fourth in its industry sector in terms of spending on research and development, investing a total of £2.56 Million, according to official statistics for 2003.
The 2003 UK R&D Scoreboard, produced by the UK Government’s Department of Trade and Industry Business Finance & Investment Unit, ranks and provides information on R&D investment levels for the top 700 UK companies and top 700 international companies. Ingenta’s level of spending ranked it fourth in the UK in the relevant industry sector, up from 10th in the 2002 survey.
Commenting on the results, Geoffrey Bilder, Chief Technical Officer at Ingenta says: “This year we have continued to be at the forefront of technical development on behalf of our 260 publisher customers. We have invested in projects including the creation of a MathML rendering engine and a new information commerce engine, the development of an automatic PDF reference extraction and resolution system and the enhancement of search algorithms and interfaces.”
