Sweet sixteens: Ingenta announces 16 new and 16 renewed publisher customers

Value for money and guarantee of global exposure are differentiators as the digital imperative brings more publications online

Ingenta, the technology provider which connects the publishing and information industries, recently announced that 16 new publisher clients have chosen the IngentaConnect digital publishing service. Several are launching online publications for the first time, indicating the continuing growth of the e-publishing sector and the increasing power of the digital imperative. Those publishers who are moving to IngentaConnect from a competitor service cite the platform's ability to grow their audience and deliver global exposure with its large share of the library market, benefits evidently appreciated by the company's existing customers – 16 current clients are also extending their electronic publishing partnerships with Ingenta for another three years.

IMarEST, the learned society for all marine professionals, is launching its first online publishing presence and chose IngentaConnect to provide data conversion and enhancement, secure online hosting, access and authentication, and content discoverability management for its three journals. "More and more of our subscribers expect to be able to access our publications electronically," explains IMarEST's James McRae. "In taking our content online for the first time, we sought a 'gold standard' provider with a proven, reliable service and competititive terms. Ingenta's high number of loyal clients and well-respected technology platform were also key factors in our decision."

New clients include:

  • Agricultural University of Szczecin
  • American Academy of Audiology
  • Cork University Press
  • Essential Oil Consultants SARL
  • Ethis Communications
  • Franz Steiner Verlag
  • Hellenic Veterinary Medical Society
  • Institut National d’Etudes Démographiques
  • The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST)
  • Institute for Transportation
  • International Journal of Engineering Education
  • Middle East Institute
  • National Herbarium of the Netherlands
  • Oxford Business Group
  • Society for Underwater Technology
  • The Society of Indexers

Existing clients extending their contracts include Berg Publishers, which will add two titles to its IngentaConnect-hosted collection of social science journals, and Bentham Science Publishers, which will capitalise on Ingenta's high traffic to grow advertising revenues for 200 new open access journals.

IngentaConnect (www.ingentaconnect.com) provides more than 25,000 libraries with access to over 10,000 titles from over 250 publishers, and 20,000 fax- and Ariel-delivered publications. Its proprietary content enhancement software adds state-of-the-art functionality to PDF articles, while the intuitive web interface provides users with a range of interactive features to support effective online research. The site enables users to view full text via subscription and through a variety of different payment models such as library payment accounts, individual subscription sales and article pay-per-view access.
