Ingenta wraps up more publisher signings

28 and counting in 2006, with 8 so far in fourth quarter

Ingenta, the technology provider which connects the publishing and information industries, recently announced that a further 8 new publishers have contracted to include their content in the IngentaConnect scholarly research platform. The company's increased stability and strengthened proposition has encouraged a total of 28 new publishers to partner with IngentaConnect thus far in 2006, a more than 50% increase on the number of publishers signed up in the whole of 2005.

New publishers to join the service include the UK's National Gallery, which will post its prestigious Technical Bulletin online for the first time, and is further committed to making an initial 26-year backfile available. Also in the UK, Science History Publications has selected IngentaConnect as the hosting platform for its 2 journals, as have Analytica Publications and the Stewart Postharvest Review. In Europe, the National Botanic Garden of Belgium's partnership with IngentaConnect will enable its journal Systematics and Geography of Plants to capitalise on potential crossover usage generated by Ingenta's pre-existing relationships with comparable publishers, and Medical Journals Limited have also selected to host their journals with IngentaConnect. In North America, the Satir Institute of the Pacific and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists have chosen IngentaConnect as their online publishing partner.

All the newly-signed publishers will take advantage of IngentaConnect's proprietary content enhancement software which adds state-of-the-art functionality to PDF articles, and will also benefit from IngentaConnect's unparalleled functionality, pre-registered user base and traffic. Neil Appleton, European Sales Manager for IngentaConnect, comments, "In an increasingly competitive market, we are pleased to welcome so many new publishers to the IngentaConnect service. There are challenges and opportunities for publishers in actively addressing library and reader requirements. We look forward to meeting their needs for a highly visible, functional and stable online platform, and to delivering further innovative services for the publishers we work with over the coming years."

IngentaConnect provides over 25,000 libraries with access to over 10,000 electronic journal, book and monograph titles and over 20,000 fax- and Ariel-delivered publications. The site enables users to view full text via subscription and through a variety of different payment models such as library payment accounts, individual subscription sales and article pay-per-view access.
